Support for our dreams.

When I was little, I used to wake up and tell my mother all of the things that I had imagined when I slept. She would smile and we would talk about our dreams together.  My dreamtime was always supported.  To this day, I believe that this set me on a path of being able to listen, truly listen to how the spirit world is guiding me.

However, this is not always an easy path.  Staying focused on our visions and dreams and taking inspired action daily, can be a challenge.  We are constantly dreaming ourselves into being, with our thoughts, our intentions and our actions.  So, how do we stay aligned when voices within and around us tell us we might not be on the right path?  How do we stay focused and connected to our own heart and soul?

I am constantly on this journey of coming back to what is true, for me.  And here are some lessons I have learned along the way that have helped me listen a little more deeply.

1. Your dreams are there for a reason.

You know that saying, “If you can dream it, you can do it?”  I truly believe this. Your soul is calling you forward for a reason.  Our dreams help to reveal our purpose.  If you are being called forward to put something out in the world, you have the resources to do so.  Call in the support you need and take that first step.

2. Those women you are in awe of?  They are your mirrors.

When we resonate with someone’s energy or feel amazed by what they are doing in the world, it’s a little message that tells us that we are aligned with them in some way.  If we so choose, we have the capacity to create what they have, in our own way, of course.  Those who inspire you, are your energetic peers.  It’s a message that you too can rise.

3.  If you quit now, the world will lose out on your medicine.

So many times I have wanted to quit.  The unsubscribes, the cancellations, the negative feedback.  It can be hard on the heart.  As humans, it tends to be where we can focus our energy.

The one thing that keeps me going is to think about young Indigenous people who I might be inspiring.  I think about my children.  I think about what may happen if I just stopped showing up.  So, I get back up, I offer myself compassion and I keep going.  The world needs me.  And it needs you too.

4. Comparison is truly the thief of joy.

And….it happens.  Because that’s the way our world is set up.  We are taught to compete from a very young age.  So, when we see someone who seems to be doing it “better” than us, we can lose our sense of self.

We can forget that our medicine is equally as valuable and that we need to follow our own path Creator birthed for us.  Remember that there is only one *you*.  Your path has been carefully crafted in this way so that you can walk in your own dream.  Resist the urge to compare.  Claim your dream as your own and keep moving forward.

5. People’s judgements of you are a reflection of them.

When we put our heart’s work out into the world, it can feel so vulnerable.  When I move into expansion in my business, it’s like I’m sending my child to school for the first time.  My heart aches.  I feel a bit sick to my stomach.  I feel exposed.

I’ve learned that it’s important to not take praise or criticism personally.  It’s not easy to walk that neutral line, but it’s really not personal.  When someone judges or criticizes me, I remember they are seeing me through their own lens of experience and belief systems.  Honour your hurt, hold yourself with compassion and then, let it go.

6.  Surround yourself with the visionaries.

Dreamers need dreamers.  Just like my mama held my dreams as precious as her own, we need that in our lives.  Find your sacred circle of people who are also aligning with their great visions.  Call in the support that you need.

I have dear friends who I share my deepest feelings of shame with.  I expose my heart and express my vulnerabilities.  They hold them and me, in their hearts.  I feel seen and loved.  This is vital to our journey and if I didn’t have this, I would have given up a long time ago!   We all need support, don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for what you need.

How do you deal with challenges when they come forward as your walk your path towards your dreams?  I would love to hear!
